Firefighters put the fire at 2126 Nostrand Ave. under control shortly before 2:30 a.m. Monday, according to the FDNY, after it began approximately 45 minutes before.

It could have been much worse if it weren’t for a teenager who sprung into action after he saw the building– just around the corner of his house– being swallowed by flames.

Taliq Thomas, 16, was walking home from his friend’s house when he saw all the smoke and people running out of the three-story complex.

“It was two people that jumped, one that landed on the Golden Krust top and another one landed– I pulled out a mattress so he could land and he landed on the cement…he was burned all over. And he was unresponsive for like a minute.

After that, Thomas along with a stranger went upstairs banging outside the doors, alerting residents of the fire.

The remaining five victims are in stable condition. All of them were taken to Staten Island North for treatment.
