FDNY brass on Wednesday made a vow — cemented in a memorial plaque — to never forget a brother who died saving lives in a Brooklyn fire nearly a year ago.

“This plaque is a solemn promise . . . To never forget his sacrifice,” said Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro, of FDNY Lt. Gordon Ambelas, 40, who died fighting a blaze in a Williamsburg housing project last July.

Nigro spoke Wednesday at a ceremony at Ambelas’ firehouse — Ladder 119 — where the memorial will be installed.

The fallen firefighter’s widow, Nanette, and two young daughters attended the proceedings.
