Congratulations to our #FDNYSmart School of the Month, PS 177K The Malboro, in Brooklyn.
Public School 177 is a unique school community committed to the intellectual, social and emotional growth of each of its students. The school works closely with parents and values parent participation; we know this can improve fire safety in the home as students often share lessons they learn with their families.
Educators from PS 177 utilized the FDNY’s educational website – FDNY Smart – to initiate fire safety education for their students. Through the website, they coordinated trips to the FDNY Fire Zone, New York City’s state-of-the-art fire-safety learning center. At the Fire Zone, students have the opportunity to climb on a realistic fire truck, try on bunker gear, meet a firefighter and learn how to crawl through a smoke-filled hallway.
