FDNY KOs Car Fire in Oakwood

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The FDNY battled a car fire on North Railroad Avenue in Oakwood Tuesday morning, just feet from a substation that went ablaze last month.

The fire to an unoccupied vehicle was reported just after 7 a.m. in front of 2036 North Railroad Ave., an FDNY spokesman said. The blaze was brought under control about a half hour later and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.

The fire was reported just feet from a Con Edison substation at North Railroad and Emmett Avenue which went on fire on Nov. 7.

Tuesday morning fire’s is not believed to be connected to the substation.
