Firefighters Suffer Minor Injuries Battling Three-Alarm Blaze in Flushing Basement

NY 1 – March 15, 2016

A three-alarm fire broke out in the basement of a home in Queens Sunday. Fire officials say it started around 9 a.m. Sunday on Laburnum Avenue between Union and Robinson Streets in Flushing.

It took firefighters about an hour and a half to get the flames under control.

They say the homeowner left earlier in the day and returned to see it on fire.

“The origin of the fire, we’re not sure of how or exactly why it started. The fire spread to the basement, first and second floors.”

Seven firefighters suffered minor injuries.
