4 Crashes in 2 Days Injure 3 on Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.– If you’re behind the wheel this weekend, you might want to be careful out there.

At least four crashes that resulted in damaged vehicles, and in some cases, serious injury, were reported on Staten Island over the weekend.

Motorcyclist injured

A motorcyclist, reportedly in his 60s, suffered a leg injury after colliding with an SUV on Saturday afternoon in New Springville.

The crash was reported at about 12:30 p.m. near the intersection of Richmond Hill and Forest Hill roads, according to a FDNY spokesman.

An investigation remains ongoing.

SUV flips, nearly hits pedestrian

A crash in Great Kills Sunday injured a driver and was within about 20 feet of injuring a pedestrian, police said.

Great Kills resident Zyli Kolar, 38, said she was crossing Greaves Avenue near Dewey Avenue when she heard a crash behind her. When she turned, she saw an SUV on it’s hood, she said.

A second SUV that was parked on Greaves Avenue was damaged as a result of the crash.

SUV rolls in Dongan Hills

A crash involving one vehicle on Sunday afternoon in Dongan Hills resulted in a serious injury, according to a FDNY spokeswoman.

Emergency responders were called to the corner of Laconia and Jefferson avenues at about 11:22 a.m. for a report of an overturned SUV.

One person was deemed in serious, but stable condition and transported to Staten Island University Hospital, Ocean Breeze, the spokeswoman said.

Cop car fender bender

A police car was involved in what appeared to be a fender bender Sunday morning in Clifton.

A report of a motor vehicle crash was reported at about 9:22 a.m., according to emergency radio transmissions.
