FDNY Medic Helps Nab Tip Thief

An off-duty FDNY medic is being heaped with praise this week for helping some Astoria restaurant workers foil a robbery on July 14th.

Cops said EMS Lt. Dwayne Coley was driving on Astoria Boulevard just before noon on July 14th when an elderly woman waved and pointed to a group of men who were wrestling with another man on a nearby sidewalk.

Coley jumped from his FDNY suburban and joined the men, who were holding down a man who had swiped a tip jar and a charity cup from a nearby café where they worked. Coley pinned down the suspect until police arrived, an NYPD spokesperson said.
