Firefighters rushed to a Bronx apartment building late Saturday night where a basement fire had been reported. And then they found a marijuana farm.

According to the Daily News, “The smell of smoldering cannabis wafted down the Castle Hill street for hours after the flames were put out.” Neighbors were evacuated as, the Post reports, “A team of cops wearing masks — seemingly to prevent getting a contact high — filled several huge garbage bags with weed and loaded it into a police van as evidence.”

An NYPD spokesman said that Alberto Martinez, 65, who is connected to the residence, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of marijuana and criminal sale of marijuana.
