Fire Breaks Out at Charles Street Apartment Building, FDNY Says

WEST VILLAGE — More than 100 firefighters battled a two-alarm fire on the top floor of a residential building at 24 Charles St. Wednesday night, the FDNY said.

According to the fire department, a call about a fire at the six-story building came in about 10 p.m.

The fire was deemed a two-alarm situation at 10:16 p.m., which meant 106 firefighters were deployed to address it, the FDNY said.

The fire was under control by 11:26 p.m. with no injuries, according to the fire department.

The FDNY has yet to determine the cause of the fire.
