FDNY, NYPD permit Staten Island kids to ‘Touch-A-Truck’ this weekend

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — If you know a kid who would love to be in a real-life fire truck or police car, we know where you need to be this weekend.

The Staten Island Mental Health Society(SIMHS)’s annual “Touch-A-Truck” takes place at the Vanderbilt from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8. Tickets are $5 and all crafts, activities and face painting are free.

The Midland Beach area will be packed out with Staten Island kids as they get “hands on” experience with the machinery their local fire fighters and police officers use. In years past, similar “Touch-A-Truck” events were held Richmond County Bank Ballpark in St. George.

The SIMHS is a private, not-for-profit children’s mental health services agency that serves Staten Island children with special needs and their families.

Rain or shine, Staten Islanders can expect a full day of family fun.

IF YOU GO…

Touch-A-Truck will take place at The Vanderbilt, located at 300 Father Capodanno Blvd. For more information on tickets or how to get involved, visit SIMHS.org.
