JAMAICA, QUEENS, NY — A person was taken into custody Monday after authorities received a call for an “emotionally disturbed person” at the same location where a two-alarm blaze broke out in Jamaica, Queens, sources told Patch.

The call came in around 3:22 p.m. from the 162-05 block of 89th Avenue Monday. The person was taken into custody with injuries to his body, sources said.

His condition is not known but he is said to be stable, sources said.

Around 20 minutes later, the New York Fire Department received a call about a fire in the same building. The fire was in the third story of the six-story building.

The FDNY said two people were injured and were being evaluated at the scene. It is not clear if the person taken into custody was one of the two injured or if they were two separate injuries.
