NEW YORK — Mets slugger David Wright met with a New York City fire department on Friday as part of the team’s annual tradition of meeting with firehouses for the 9/11 anniversary.

Wright, who’s out for the year after undergoing neck surgery in June, met with Engine 39 and Ladder 16 on Friday, the 13th year Wright has met with an NYC firehouse since the attacks. The firehouse lost two of its members on 9/11.

Former Mets infielder Edgardo Alfonzo, who played for the Mets in 2001, joined Wright on Friday.
