WPIX 11 – September 18, 2015
STATEN ISLAND – This weekend, join PIX 11’s Sukanya Krishnan and hundreds of others for the 8th Annual Lt. John Martinson Memorial Picnic. The event will be held at Hillside Swim Club from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, September 19. The gathering is meant to celebrate the spirit of LT John Martinson, also known as “Johnny Nice Guy” for his selfless nature.
Martinson died in 2008 while responding to a fast-moving, smokey fire in a Brooklyn high-ride apartment building. He was 40 years old.
Martinson, a member of Engine Co. 249 in Brooklyn, and his FDNY family will never forget the sacrifice he made.
