A fire tore through an apartment building on the Lower East Side on Sunday afternoon, injuring two people and sending panicked residents fleeing for safety, authorities said.

A few hours later, the FDNY was called to a Queens blaze that raged to five alarms. More than 200 firefighters fought the fire at a one-story commercial building at 218th St. in Queens Village. The blaze broke out around 6 p.m. and wasn’t under control until 11:40 p.m., the FDNY said. No one was injured.

The Manhattan fire started at 3:22 p.m. in a second-floor unit in the five-story building at 73 Monroe St. and was put out in less than an hour, an FDNY spokesman said. Two people suffered minor injuries.

Resident Xiaoting Luo, 30, fled and later said, “ I opened the door to the hallway and there was so much smoke.”

The couple who live in the apartment where the fire began were at work at the time, and anxious upon returning. “We have a cat and a dog in there,” said Hai Su Low, 67.
