STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Firefighters made quick work of an all-hands blaze that sent thick, black plumes of smoke wafting above the Stapleton Homeport area on Sunday.

The fire, which broke out in an industrial area near Front and Thompson streets, was called in just before 5 p.m. and placed under control less than 20 minutes later, an FDNY spokesman said.

The blaze appeared to affect large fuel storage tanks located next to buildings along the waterfront.

No injuries were reported.
