NEW YORK (AP) — The FDNY is promoting 56 of its members.
Commissioner Daniel Nigro (NY’-groh) notes that Wednesday’s promotion ceremony closely follows the anniversary of 9/11.
Nigro says he’s reminded of those who led the department on that day — and what it means to be a New York City firefighter.
The department says its newly promoted officers represent about 900 years of experience.
