UPPER WEST SIDE, MANHATTAN — A track fire Wednesday morning at 59th Street-Columbus Circle caused problems on several of the trains that crisscross through the busy subway station.
The small fire broke out around 9:15 a.m., an FDNY spokesman told Patch, and crews were still assessing the situation around 10 a.m.
Photos from the scene showed the mini-fire burning near the subway tracks:
While the fire didn’t injure anyone or appear to do much damage, it did cause headaches for commuters coming downtown from Upper Manhattan.
Southbound B trains were running express from 81st Street-Museum of Natural History to 59th Street-Columbus Circle. Southbound C trains were running express from 125th Street to Canal Street.
