A heroic firefighter crawled through a smoke-filled Brooklyn apartment Sunday to drag out an injured man, officials said. The blaze broke out on the second floor of a three-story apartment building on Chauncey St. near Thomas S. Boyland St. in Bushwick at about noon, officials said.

Firefighter Kenny Johnson, a 14-year veteran, said the smoke was so thick he could only search the room with his hands. He located a victim and helped remove him from the fire building.

The man was hospitalized in serious condition. A woman was also treated for minor injuries, according to the report.
