SOUTH WILLIAMSBURG, BROOKLYN — The old, abandoned Delta Metal Warehouse building at 476 Flushing Ave., along the southernmost border of the neighborhood’s Orthodox Jewish triangle, went up in flames around noon Thursday, city fire officials said.
It took a total of 60 firefighters a little more than 20 minutes — from 12:08 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. — to bring the blaze “under control,” an FDNY spokeswoman told Patch. There were no reported injuries by the time the fire was out, the spokeswoman said.
Video from the scene showed firefighters entering the burning warehouse through a hole they apparently knocked through the brick, beneath a “FOR RENT” sign, as Hasidic neighbors gathered around to watch.
According to online listing, the Delta Metal Warehouse manufactured parts for “noncurrent-carrying wiring devices.”
