The fire broke out inside a home on 147th Street near Rockaway Boulevard early Friday, the FDNY said.
QUEENS — Firefighters rescued trapped children while battling a South Jamaica house fire that left 10 people injured — one critically — Friday morning, according to the FDNY.
The fire broke out inside a two-story home at 123-60 147th Street, near Rockaway Boulevard, just after 3:30 a.m., fire officials said.
“We had reports of children trapped upstairs and there was heavy fire pushing out on the first floor when we arrived,” FDNY Lt. Brendan Corrigan said. “We heard screaming, so my members quickly made a push up the interior stairs past the fire on the first floor. We all split up to search, and I found them hunkered down behind a closed door in the middle room.”
