FDNY team helps Texas firefighter in need

PEARLAND, T.X. –
Members of the FDNY Disaster Assistance Response Team helped a fellow firefighter return to his home in Pearland, Texas Friday – days after it was severely damaged by floodwaters.

The firefighter they were helping had been working non-stop to save others in the community. Upon returning home, he found most of his possessions had been ruined.

When the FDNY team heard about his story, they decided to pitch in.

“We’ve seen this up close and personal after Sandy,” said Lt. George Rico Diaz. “We finished our tour for the day, but we got enough energy to come over here and give a little extra to a brother in need.”

The response team is comprised of some retired FDNY members – some of them from Long Island.
