The Uniformed Firefighters Association of the New York City Fire Department (UFANYC) has endorsed Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus for re-election. The UFA represents “rank and file” members of the FDNY.
UFA, in its endorsement, said Neuhaus’ “concern for public safety, first responders, working families, our education system, and the economy of Orange County and New York State, has been proven by both your words and actions. It is more important than ever that we elect County leaders who will protect the economy and grow of Orange County.”
As county executive, Neuhaus serves as incident commander in the case of emergencies in Orange County. He has led Orange County to two back-to-back perfect scores by FEMA for emergency preparedness — a first in county history.
County Executive Steve Neuhaus said “I’m honored to be endorsed by the Uniformed Firefighters Association. These men and women risk their lives every day for the safety of the public. Their bravery and professionalism is known worldwide and I am proud to have them on my side.”
County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus is a lifelong resident of Orange County. He graduated from Monroe-Woodbury High School, earned a bachelors degree from Mount Saint Mary College and a masters degree from Marist College. Since taking office, Neuhaus has reduced the size of government, lowered the tax rate, reduced the county budget by over $20 million, and led the county in economic revitalization. He also serves as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy Reserves currently assigned to a Naval Special Warfare Group. He and his wife, Rachel, live in Chester with their four children.
