Jon Stewart eulogizes FDNY firefighter Raymond Pfeifer

Comedian Jon Stewart choked back tears Friday as he eulogized a New York City firefighter who battled for medical help for 9/11 first responders before he died of 9/11-related cancer.

“Ray would have loved a day like today,” with so many people “coming to pay respect for a man who did right,” Stewart said at a funeral Mass in Hicksville for Raymond Pfeifer, 59, a Hicksville resident.

Pfeifer would have wondered what all the fuss was about for someone who thought of himself as “just a kid from Levittown,” Stewart said.
