Fire Breaks Out At Midtown Restaurant Near Carnegie Hall

MIDTOWN, NY — One person suffered minor injuries in a fire that broke out at a Midtown restaurant across the street from Carnegie Hall late Saturday morning, the FDNY said.

The fire in the 46-story building on 888 7th Avenue started in the duct work of a first-floor restaurant, deputy assistant fire chief John Hodgens said at a briefing at the scene. The fire got out of the duct work and made its way into the restaurant.

Firefighters arrived on scene within four minutes and conducted searches, which turned up negative.

One civilian suffered minor injuries due to smoke inhalation and was taken to the hospital. No other injuries were reported.

The fire is under control and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
