Massive Fire Engulfs 2 Homes in Mill Basin, FDNY Says

MILL BASIN — A massive fire erupted in Brooklyn Monday afternoon, engulfing two homes and injuring a pair of firefighters, the FDNY said.

The blaze started at 2218 National Dr., near Mill Avenue, about 2:19 p.m., FDNY said.

The fire quickly spread to the home next door, and there were reports that it had reached a third house, a spokesman for FDNY said.

Firefighters were still battling the inferno as of 4 p.m. on Monday, officials said. Two firefighters were injured in the process, but severity of the injuries was unknown, the FDNY said.

A total of 39 units and 168 firefighters and medics responded to the scene, the spokesman said.
