Hundreds of Queens residents were without water and power this morning after a water main break flooded basements and city streets in Corona, forcing emergency crews to shut the taps, NBC4 reported.

Water started flooding the roadway after midnight today, along 60th Avenue, damaging cars, parking garages and bringing mud and debris pouring through. A ruptured 12-inch water main was to blame, officials said.

The water main was repaired but water was not expected to be retored until around noon on Thursday, ABC7 reported.

The avenue was closed from 99th to Calloway streets because of the flooding, the city Office of Emergency Management told NBC4.

Emergency Management responded after residents reported their basements had flooded around 12:30 a.m., according to reports. Crews shut water and power to several building as they tried to contain the damage.

The cleanup was ongoing this morning.

Officials from the FDNY, Con Edison, the National Grid and the Department of Environmental Protection were on the scene, according to the news channel.
