A fire that started in the basement of a restaurant tore through a three-story apartment building in the Bronx early Friday, officials said.
The three-alarm blaze began just after 2 a.m. in the basement of Lotus Flame Restaurant on Morris Park Ave. near Bronxdale Ave. in Morris Park and quickly spread throughout the building.
It took 138 firefighters to battle the fire that extended to the roof of the building, according to FDNY officials. They brought the blaze under control around 4:20 a.m.
The top two floors of the building house apartments and two civilians suffered minor injuries, authorities said. Four firefighters also suffered minor injuries fighting the blaze.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
