A vacant four-story Brooklyn tenement suddenly collapsed in a pile of rubble Tuesday afternoon, injuring three passersby, police officials said. The upper floors of the building at 1438 Fulton St. near Brooklyn Ave. in Bedford-Stuyvesant crumbled and fell about 2:30 p.m., the officials said.

They added that the bottom floor, which housed a beauty supply store, was unoccupied at the time of the collapse.

Terry Charles, 55, a bicyclist riding past the building when it fell, was knocked off his bike and injured, officials said. Two pedestrians passing by the site, who were not immediately identified, were also hurt.

All three victims were taken to Kings County Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police officials said.

A video from NBC New York shows the building shift as pieces begin to fall, and just seconds later the whole building coming down in a cloud of debris.

The officials said the building, which was set to be demolished, stands next to an empty lot.

Firefighters searched the rubble Tuesday afternoon to ascertain that there were no additional victims.
