STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Funeral arrangements for a firefighter who died while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps in Afghanistan on April 8 were announced Thursday by the FDNY.

Christopher A. Slutman, 43, was appointed a firefighter in September of 2003 and led a 15-year career in the FDNY in addition to his service in the military.

Slutman spent his entire FDNY career serving the people of the Bronx and was stationed since 2015 at Ladder Co. 27 in Claremont.
