FDNY Fights Fire at Apartment in Oakwood on Monday

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The FDNY is fighting an apartment fire in Oakwood on Monday morning.

The fire in the two-story occupied building at 372 Oak Ave. at the corner of Medina Street was reported at 5:51 a.m., according to a spokesman for the FDNY.

About 25 units and 106 firefighters are responding to the second-alarm fire.

A civilian with minor injuries is being evaluated at the scene, a spokesman for the FDNY said.

At least two apartment were engulfed in flames, according to a witness.

Heavy fire was reported on the first floor, the FDNY spokesman said.

The blaze was brought under control around 6:30 a.m., according to the FDNY Twitter feed.
