A yellow city school bus became an exploding ball of flame Monday morning when it caught fire on a busy street in the Bronx.
A video posted by the Twitter user @DistractDaily showed a short school bus engulfed in flames and spewing a toxic black cloud of smoke.
“Damn. Bus caught on fire. Hopefully no one inside. #nyc #scary,” the caption for the video read.
Education Department officials said firefighters immediately responded to the incident and that there were no students on board at the time of the blaze.
Education Department officials also said there were no injuries in the blaze and that the bus company that operates the route is looking into the cause for the fire. It did not provide the name of the bus company.
