Sally Siller will kick off the campaign Thursday at 11 a.m. at Deputy Chief Michael Fahy’s Bronx firehouse at 2175 Walton Ave.
The widow of fallen 9/11 firefighter Siller will gather with other members of the Siller family and FDNY Chief of Department James Leonard, along with Fahy’s widow Fiona Fahy and their three children.
The goal is to raise enough money to pay off the mortgage on the Fahy’s house, the Sillers said.
Deputy Chief Fahy, 44, was killed Sept. 27 when a Bronx building with a suspected gas leak blew up.
The veteran officer, who had just exited the building with other first responders, was struck and killed by falling debris.
Investigators said the home turned out to be a marijuana factory, with stolen water and electricity used to help grow the drug.
Authorities suspect the gas line was possibly compromised in some way.
Two suspects, Garibaldi Castillo, 32, and Julio Salcedo, 34, have been arraigned on felony marijuana charges.
Fire Commissioner said Fahy, who was posthumously promoted from Battalion Chief to Deputy Chief, was a “rising star” in the FDNY.
Siller said the fundraising campaign was in keeping with the Siller Foundation’s mission to honor and support first responders.
Her husband Stephen Siller was killed on 9/11 while responding to the terror attacks on the World Trade Center.
The 34-year-old had just finished a shift at his firehouse, Squad 1 in Brooklyn, when two planes ripped into the Twin Towers.
Siller returned to his firehouse and drove his truck to the entrance of the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, but it had already been closed for security purposes.
The young smoke eater strapped his 60-pounds of equipment to his back and ran the three-plus miles through the tunnel to arrive at WTC, where he tragically lost his life while helping others escape the destruction.
Every year, a “Tunnel to Towers” fundraising run is held in his honor, following the route he took 15 years ago.
