Dog saved from burning home in Brooklyn; FDNY members to care for it until owner can | 7online.com

NEW YORK (WABC) — Brooklyn firefighters rescued a dog from a fire on Monday and will care for the dog at the firehouse until the owner recovers.

Firefighters responded to the fire on Linden Boulevard on Monday afternoon and while searching for victims, located a small dog lying in the hallway. Officials say the dog was lethargic and breathing heavy.

Firefighter John Sommeso, Ladder 174, who has rescued three pets during his 10-year career with the FDNY, carried the dog out of the apartment and passed him to firefighters who took him downstairs.

EMS members gave the dog an air mask and once the fire was under control, the dog was alert and standing on the street corner.
