Don’t Worry if You See a Huge Emergency Presence Near Rockefeller Center Thursday Night

If you happen to see a swarm of firefighters and other emergency personnel near Rockefeller Center Thursday night, there’s nothing to be worried about.

The FDNY plans to conduct a “full-scale emergency exercise” near West 49th Street and Avenue of the Americas between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m., the city said in an advisory.

People may notice a heavy emergency presence in the area at that time, the city says, but it’s just a drill.

The agency says the exercise will take place from 8 a.m. till noon, and there will be an increased presence of emergency personnel.

The drill coincides with Donald Trump’s first visit to his home city since becoming president, but authorities did not say it was connected to his trip.

Meanwhile, the Port Authority plans to conduct a similar exercise at the World Trade Center site on Saturday.

The emergency response drill, near the south side of the memorial, is planned from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

People in the area at the time will likely notice an increased law enforcement presence, but as is the case with Thursday’s FDNY exercise, there’s no cause for concern.
