The driver who caused a fatal multiple car pile-up in the Bronx Thursday night fled the scene on foot — but was nabbed by cops when he sought treatment at Jacobi Hospital, police said.
The runaway suspect, 21, was driving on Boston Road near Barnes Avenue in Allerton about 8 p.m. when he swerved into oncoming traffic, striking a Chrysler minivan with four passengers.
The two cars then careened into a parked car before coming to a rest, cops said.
The impact killed one passenger of the minivan, a 21-year-old Christopher Hulse, and temporarily trapped the three others, cops said.
Emergency responders extracted the victims, who were taken to Jacobi Hospital. They are listed in stable condition.
The driver of the Camry, Tanbir Islam, 21, fled the carnage. He was later found at Jacobi Hospital and placed into custody.
Islam was charged with manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter, leaving the scene of an accident and driving while intoxicated, police said.
