The FDNY has set out on a proactive mission to recruit more firefighters and EMTs in an active November campaign to encourage young people to join the Fire Department.

“There’s a very aggressive campaign that the Fire Department is running at this moment in all five boroughs in which you will see recruiters such as myself in public locations such as subways, schools, shopping malls and such,” said Khalid Baylor, FDNY firefighter. “We’re trying to distribute the information to those who will be interested”

Individuals between the ages of 17 and 29 can apply, and for those presently younger than 21, hiring is to be executed at the age of 21. The FDNY encourages individuals of all races, male and female, who qualify to apply to join the FDNY.

Visit their website www.nyc.gov/fndy or call 718-999-3369 for more information on the application process.
