They want to remember their loved ones in the company of loved ones. Scores of FDNY families who lost relatives to the 9/11 attack will flock to St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Midtown this Saturday as the department marks the 15th anniversary of the World Trade Center terror attacks.

Cardinal Timothy Dolan will lead the ecumenical service, which will honor not only the 343 firefighters who died on 9/11, but the 127 firefighters who died of 9/11-related cancers in the ensuing 15 years.

“It is very good for the families. I think it provides comfort,” FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro said Wednesday. “Today our department is stronger and better prepared than ever. That being said, when this time of year comes, it reopens an old wound and we all feel the pain.”

“It’s good for the families to know that the FDNY has not forgotten them,” he added.

The service, which will be similar to the FDNY’s 10th anniversary 9/11 memorial service, is scheduled for 3 p.m. and will include performances by the Brooklyn Children’s Chorus and Choir of St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

There will also be personal remarks and remembrances from the children of members killed on 9/11, organizers said.
