A fire that killed a 56-year-old man and left three others hospitalized in a Brooklyn apartment building Tuesday night was intentionally set, officials said.

The blaze tore through the second and third floors of a three-story Hancock St. building near Bedford Ave. in Bedford-Stuyvesant around 9:45 p.m., a Fire Department spokesman said.

Two women and a man were rushed to Kings County Hospital, where third floor resident Tyrone Corely died, officials said. The two women suffered smoke inhalation and were treated and released.

A second man was taken to Interfaith Memorial Hospital also suffering from smoke inhalation, and was also treated and released.

Fire marshals were still investigating the blaze, but had determined it was “intentionally set” by late Wednesday, according to an FDNY spokesman.

The medical examiner was still determining the cause of Corely’s death. Police sources said the incident is being investigated as a homicide.

There was evidence that an accelerant was used in the fire, the sources said.

Police had made no arrests as of early Thursday.
