A man died after a fire erupted in a Coney Island apartment early Friday. Smoke quickly filled the 19th floor apartment on W. 33rd St. when the blaze broke out shortly before 3 a.m.

Emergency responders rushed a father and son to New York Community Hospital, but the son couldn’t be saved, police confirmed.

Natifah Cooper, 20, who lives next door to the victims, says the son’s name is Vitali.

Cooper said she was returning home when she saw smoke pouring out from her neighbor’s door.

“The father was yelling, ‘My son! My son!’ ” she said

“So I banged on the door with my hands and pushed it open. You could tell the man couldn’t see so I gave him my arm and led him out. ”

Cooper said she looked inside the apartment but the smoke was already so thick it blotted out everything.

“The thick grey smoke was like a wall. It just blocks you off from everything,” she said.

The father was in stable condition, authorities said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
