NYPD Marathon Team Beats the FDNY for the First Time in 12 Years

The city’s finest are, at least this year, the fastest. NYPD officials beat their FDNY counterparts at Sunday’s marathon, and running away with the Mayor’s Cup for the first time since 2002.

Police Officer Mario Segura crossed the finish line first, completing the marathon in 2:49:49 — and teammates Timothy Dowling, Joseph Redmond, Shaun Mara, Jose Luis Benitez, Cecilio Ramos, Frank Debiase, Terry Allen, Stephen Janec and Brian Sayre followed closely behind.

The composite finish times for the top 10 FDNY marathoners was slower for the first time in 12 years.

The top 10 runners from the NYPD received the award from FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro at the end of the race.
