MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) — A garbage barge full of crushed cars caught fire Wednesday afternoon on the Hutchinson River between the Bronx and Mount Vernon. As Joe Biermann reported from Chopper 2, the barge carrying crushed cars and scrap metal caught fire on the river around 5:45 p.m. Mount Vernon firefighters and the FDNY were both on the scene hosing down the flames.
