Man Jumps into River for Ice Bucket Challenge — but Can’t Swim

Two dimwitted daredevils were taunted by friends to jump into the East River as part of the ALS ice bucket challenge Monday night – even though one couldn’t swim.

The pair of 20-somethings dove into the river off Pier 1 at Ganty Plaza State Park in Long Island City about 8:00 p.m., the FDNY said.

One of the men swam to safety and the other needed to be saved by a good Samaritan who dove into the water and held onto the desperate diver until NYPD Emergency Service Unit cops arrived.

All three men were taken to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
