NEW YORK (WABC) — It’s promotion day for New York City’s Bravest on Thursday.
Eighty-three members of the FDNY moved up in rank during a ceremony at the Christian Cultural Center in East New York, Brooklyn, at 11 a.m.
The members make up more than 1,200 years of experience with the department.
Seventeen captains were promoted to the rank of battalion chief, 15 lieutenants were promoted to the rank of captain, one fire marshal was promoted to the rank of supervising fire marshal, 45 firefighters were promoted to the rank of lieutenant and five firefighters were promoted to the rank of wiper.
Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano presided over the ceremony.
